Architectural Abstraction

A second-year university project requiring the development of a single word into a commercial project outcome. My choice, taking an abstracted look at ‘structure’, explored the anatomy and configuration of architecture through  a simpler lens of base formation and core visuals.

The result of architectural design technique research, numerous structural pattern prints, and an overflowing amount of photocopies, the result was a layered, monochrome, pattern built from the structural plans of noted buildings from around the world.

When it came to develop the commercial aspect of this project, the fashion industry may not seem the obvious choice. However, it is an industry more intertwined with architecture than manyyou first imagine. From examples of architecture as a designer’s inspiration, to the famed structures and style of the world’s great fashion cities, it seemed fitting to adapt my final design to a fashion pattern for clothing, backdrops, and merchandise.
